MAINCODE Biannual Meeting

On the 2nd of July, the MAINCODE consortium holds its biannual meeting to review project progress and discuss next steps in developing urban climate shelters in schoolyards. During the meeting, project partners Commonspace and Urban Lab Torino present the ongoing co-design processes in the pilot cities of Halandri and Turin, highlighting the active involvement of students, teachers, families, local stakeholders, and school communities in shaping climate-resilient schoolyards. Building on these experiences, the consortium launches a joint effort led by SDU and Politecnico di Torino to analyse the barriers, challenges, trade-offs, and enabling factors emerging from the pilot cities. This work will inform the development of policy recommendations and practical toolkits, supporting cities and practitioners in replicating and scaling up urban climate shelters in schoolyards across Europe.
