28 January 2025 marked the official launch of the MAINCODE project with an inspiring seminar titled “Urban Climate Shelters in Schoolyards: A Pathway Towards Heat-Resilient and Healthy Cities”. Held at the Politecnico di Torino, the seminar brought together partners, researchers, and practitioners to exchange insights on how urban climate shelters can be a transformative solution for both climate adaptation and community well-being. This event marked a significant first step toward rethinking urban transformation through NbS, starting with schools, to address the growing threat of extreme heat in cities.
MAINCODE has been funded by the Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca (MUR), the Innovation Fund of Denmark (IFD), and General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) under the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership which has been co-funded by the European Commission. MAINCODE runs from 2025 to 2027
